Monday, September 12

Day 4
Our morning began with Mathematics where the students were given a ‘Pre-assessment’ quiz on our first topic ‘Sorting and Patterning’. The students then had gym with Mr. H.

After gym, the students were given their first set of spelling words (spelling words will be given every Monday and the students will be tested on these word the following Friday), followed by our first lunch and recess.

As a class we then went to the School Library where the students were given the opportunity to explore the books. We then discussed the type of attitudes we would expect to have in a library and why this is important.  A story was also selected which we read as a class.

After Library we began to explore our UOI (unit of inquiry) topic, Life Cycles. The lesson began with the students writing down any questions they was to find out during this UOI. We hope that by the end of the topic, the students will have discovered the answers to their questions. We discussed ‘MRS NERG’ as a class and what defines an object at living. Following this, we looked at the life cycle of a snake and completed our first entry in our observation booklet of our ‘Butterfly Tracking’ booklets.

French with Mademoiselle Jessica took place after second lunch and recess, followed by agendas.
