Day 7

Our morning began in mathematics where the students were given a task by Mr. Sawatsky. He had received a letter from ‘Statistics Canada’ with a task to survey the students in Grades 1-3. Grade 2 offered their help to support Mr. Sawatsky and decided that they would survey Grade 1.

The students formed groups, prepared their tallies and went to survey the Grade 1 classes. We then came back together to discuss our results.




After mathematics the students had P.E with Mr. H, followed by UOI. In UOI the students learnt about Chinese New Year. We listened to the story of ‘The Great Race’ and recalled the story as a class.
The students then identified their own Chinese Zodiac and describe their similarities and differences .

We then had first lunch and recess followed by music with Mr. Oliver.

After music we continued with UOI and created a mask of our favourite Chinese Zodiac from the story. Many students were able to express their opinions and explain why they liked a certain animal.






We then had second lunch and recess, followed by French and agendas. After agendas we also used our masks for a drama activity where we described the feelings of the various animals in the race.

- Children are invited to bring $1-2 tomorrow for a Healthy Food Stall held by the Grade 1’s. All of the are profits will be donated to the ‘Sick Children’ Hospital
- A message regarding new lunch order system:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
SJA is excited to announce that our lunch ordering system has now been upgraded!

Beginning today you will place all lunch orders on-line. The ordering system is more simplified and easy to navigate.

Below are the instructions on how to order and how to pay:

2.       Click on the link Don't have an account? Register and register your child based on your email address, their grade, and classroom teacher name. (you can register more than one child)
3.       Verify your email account through the email sent
4.       Log-in and look for the tab manage lunch on the top left of the page
5.       Select add new lunch form
6.       Select student name and payment method
7.       Check off the boxes for your selections for each day
8.       Press save
9.       The program will then take you to a screen that will give you the total you owe for the month
10.    Please place amount owing (in agenda) in a zip lock bag clearly labeled with student first and last name as well as teacher name.

We recognize the process is new and may be confusing so we appreciate your understanding in this matter. ******Please place all orders by January 27Th 2017. Please keep in mind that after this date no orders can be accepted as the site will close until the new month. We will send reminders and blog posts to ensure you do not miss the deadline.  ******
