A wonderful Wednesday!

The students had a fantastic trip to St. Jude's Academy! They spent the day learning more about our current Unit of Inquiry, Is It Alive? and collaborated with many new friends!

Some of the activities included singing a song to nature and creating nature crowns!

A wonderful Wednesday!

Our morning began with assembly where we sang O’Canada. Then we had register followed by the calendar, the weather and 100 days of school.

Next we had mathematics where the students continued with their unit on subtraction using their fingers as a strategy to solve calculations.


After that we had recess followed by P.E with Miss. Cranfield followed by phonics. In phonics the students discussed the split diagraph ‘A-E’ and create a list of words with this sound.

Our afternoon began with UOI where the students discussed the life cycle of a butterfly and also collected leaves from the garden.
                                              
We then had afternoon recess followed by music with Ms. Bhogal.

-          ASAP –Summer Camp due to Mrs. Burke
-          May 31 – Trip to SJA for UOI (Trip to SJA on Thursday – please return the Spelling Bee permission form by Wednesday. Students will be working collaboratively with students for a UOI challenge! Packed lunch needed and house colour uniform encouraged!)
-          June 1 – Spelling Dictation (list 8)
-          June 1 – Scholastic due
-          June 1 – Trip response for Fiddlehead Care Farm due
-          June 4 – Spring Costume due
-          June 6 – Spring Concert (Food Bank donation for entry)

A terrific Tuesday!

Our morning began with assembly where we sang O’Canada. Then we had register followed by the calendar, the weather and 100 days of school.

Next we had mathematics where the students discussed how to subtract in different ways and completed examples using different methods.






After that we had UOI where the students went completed a nature trail senses activity outside. 






Our afternoon began with P.E with Miss. Cranfield followed by phonics. In phonics the students continued to explore the phoneme ‘EYey ’.

Our afternoon ended with recess followed by French with Mme. Viellenueve.

-          May 30 – Casual Day
-          May 30 – Return SJA Trip permission form

It has been a marvelous Monday!

Our morning began Track and Field. All of the students made an excellent effort! Great job everyone!




After that we had lunch and recess.  Then, the students wrote an entry into their journals about their weekend and completed their phonics for the phoneme ‘EYey’.

We then had afternoon recess followed by sharing our weekend news with Penguin.

A fantastic Friday!

Our morning began with assembly where we sang O’Canada. Then we had register followed by calendar, the weather and 100 days of school.

Next we had our In-class Spelling Bee, a great effort made by all of the participants. Well done Kindergarten!










After that we had recess followed by Show and Tell. In Show and Tell the students brought in items to share relating to our phonemes of the week.








After that we had lunch and recess.

Our afternoon began with P.E with Miss. Cranfield followed by Birthday Circle.



We then had afternoon recess followed by French with Mme. Viellenueve.

-          Spelling Bee competition at St Jude’s Academy details sent home. Please return permission form.
-          Fiddlehead Care Farm permission form due Friday, June 1st, 2018.

A tremendous Thursday!

Our morning began with assembly where we sang O’ Canada. Then we had register followed by the calendar, the weather and 100 days of school.






Next we had mathematics where the students completed addition a number line challenges.   

We then had recess followed by phonics and UOI. In phonics the students discussed the phoneme ‘AUau’ and practiced the letter formations.


In UOI the students watered their magical beans and began learning about animal habitats.






Our afternoon began with P.E with Miss. Cranfield followed by dance.

We then had afternoon recess followed by music with Ms. Bhogal.

-          Summer Camp due to Lynne Burke as soon as possible.
-          Birthday Circle moved to tomorrow.
-          In-class Spelling Bee on tomorrow, practice words on a daily basis.

After that we had mathematics where the students continued adding to 20 using a number line.

We then had recess followed by phonics and P.E with Miss. Cranfield. We then had recess followed by phonics where the students continued to explore the phoneme ‘OEoe’.

Our afternoon began with UOI where the students discussed the features of living and non-living things.

The students also compared a goldfish to a goldfish cracker.



                                              
We then had afternoon recess followed by French with Mme. Viellenueve.

A terrific Tuesday!

Our morning began with assembly where we sang O’ Canada. Then we had register followed by calendar, the weather and sharing our weekend news with Penguin. Nicky’s journal was also shared.




After that we had recess followed by phonics and mathematics. In phonics we discussed the phoneme ‘OEoe’ and practiced the letter formations.

In mathematics the students used a number line to add one and two digit numbers together.




Our afternoon began with P.E with Miss. Cranfield followed by Spelling Bee practice.

Our afternoon ended with recess followed by UOI where the students became nature detectives and went exploring on the trail. They also collected a stick ready for an art activity next week.



The students also discovered that their magic beans had begun to grow! They discussed why they thought some had grown more than others and also watered their beans.
